GLAAD Celebrates Black Queer Creatives at the Second Annual BQCS Summit

The only thing better than being a Black Queer Creative is being surrounded by fellow Black Queer Creatives at a three day summit in Los Angeles.

Last weekend, over 200 attendees hand picked LGBTQ visionairies from different parts of the country traveled to LA to be a part of GLAAD’s Black Queer Creative cohort for the second annual year.

During the course of the weekend attendees fine tuned their creative skills with workshops and narrative blocks led by industry leaders like B. Scott, Dawn Richard, Lena Waithe, and Wendy Raquel Robinson to name a few. The carefully curated workshops and incubators for attendees were one of the major highlights of the weekend.

Another highlight from the weekend was meeting new queer people to build community with. One attendee who identifies as a Black queer Femme in the film industry started her thoughts on the weekend with us.

I’ve never been in a space filled with so much joy and creative synergy. To meet fellow Black queer creatives and form genuine friendships is something that will continue to shape my life long after the summit.

Attendees made brilliant new connections at the summit receptions hosted exclusively by GLAAD, and the closing night reception was one to remember with signature drinks, tasty appetizers, and two portrait stations for creatives to indulge in.

Being a part of the Black Queer Creative Summit was nothing short of inspirational and the team who put the weekend together is outstanding.
